How it works
The fixed loop.
A loop that keeps its size whatever the load. Use it for a carabiner, a ring, a hand grip that must not choke, or the neck loop of a leash.
Step by step
5 steps. No knot.
The animation plays one step at a time and pauses. Click a step to jump to it, drag the slider to go back and forth, or play the whole sequence.
Pictures
Every step, frame by frame.

1
Push the end through one of the rope’s loops, so you get a loop of the size you want.

2
Close up: the end sits in one loop, and the next loop on the end lies right beside it.

3
Push the end through that next loop as well.

4
Pull the loop tight.

5
Locked. The loop keeps its size under load. Push the end back out to release.
